Memorial Day is always a special day when we take time to think of not only those who have served our country fighting for our freedoms, but also of our beloved family members and friends who have passed on. If we are able, we often will head out to the cemeteries to place flowers and flags on our loved ones’ gravestones.
We often remember loved ones throughout the year, but there is something special each Memorial Day of going out and spending time in the peacefulness of the cemetery, seeing all the flags whipping around in the wind, and placing beautiful flowers on the gravestones of those we love. We know they are now in a better place, oftentimes no longer suffering from painful illnesses, injuries, or battles from war.
If you are at the cemetery at the right time, you also might experience a 21-gun salute in remembrance of fallen soldiers and veterans who have passed on.
My prayer today is that each of you find peace in your heart knowing that your loved ones are now resting in peace in the arms of our Loving Heavenly Father.
